Hello my group would like to know what qualifies as a freefall, for example does the parachute have be wound up with cords and fall before opening or can have the parachute clipped in and be dropped and almost automatically open once dropped? Looking for a more clear definition of “Freefall”

Thank you for the inquiry. The expectation for “freefall” is that when the smokejumper and all elements of the parachute are completely separated from the Tello, the parachute opens at some point during the drop on its way down.
